This full-time, contract position focuses on providing specialized instruction and advocacy for middle and high school students, with a manageable caseload of five students. You’ll work 37.5 hours per week alongside a dedicated educational team in an environment that values your input and expertise.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education for the Visually Impaired or related field
  • Valid licensure/certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
  • Experience supporting visually impaired students within school settings, particularly at the middle and/or high school level
  • Proficiency in Braille instruction and adaptive technology for low vision/blind students
  • Strong ability to create individualized educational plans and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
  • Compassionate, patient, and committed to fostering independence in every learner

Role Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction in core academic and functional skills to visually impaired students
  • Consult with general education teachers to adapt materials and teaching strategies
  • Conduct assessments to determine students’ functional vision and learning needs
  • Develop and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Advocate for accessibility and inclusion throughout the school environment
  • Communicate regularly with families and staff to ensure consistent support
  • Use adaptive devices and technology to maximize student participation
