Qualifications and Skills:

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Current state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)
  • Experience in hospital or acute care settings preferred
  • Strong knowledge of assessment and intervention for speech, language, and swallowing disorders
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to educate, collaborate, and interact with multidisciplinary healthcare teams and families

Schedule:

  • Contract position; schedule discussed during interview

Core Responsibilities:

  • Conduct direct patient care involving assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of speech, language, and swallowing difficulties
  • Complete comprehensive patient documentation, including evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries
  • Coordinate with insurance providers regarding patient benefits and coverage
  • Prepare for evaluation and therapy sessions, ensuring all materials and settings are ready
  • Provide targeted education to nurses, physicians, dietitians, and food service staff based on evaluation outcomes and current best practices
  • Develop in-service presentations to support ongoing staff learning
  • Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals to ensure holistic, patient-centered care
  • Maintain cleanliness of therapy and treatment rooms
  • Place reminder calls to patients and assist them and their families in navigating the hospital as needed
  • Undertake additional assignments as required
