Apply NowA Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) position is available for the 2025-2026 school year in Citrus Heights, CA, primarily supporting elementary students in a school setting. This full-time, in-person contract role reports to the Director of Special Education and focuses on individualized speech and language assessment and therapy, alongside consulting services to school staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct speech and language screenings, evaluations, and assessments for students referred for special education services.
- Collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team to interpret assessments and contribute to Individualized Education Program (IEP) planning.
- Provide consultative and advisory support to school personnel on diagnosis and remediation strategies.
- Maintain effective communication with staff, families, and healthcare agencies to monitor student progress and developmental changes.
- Deliver direct therapy to students with speech and language impairments, promoting communication skills for academic and personal growth.
- Assist in developing appropriate language programs for regular and special education classroom environments.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Active California Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) license.
- Experience and training in assessment, evaluation, and consultation related to speech and language disorders.
- Familiarity with all phases of the special education process, including knowledge of disability categories and special expertise in early learning or atypical impairments preferred.
- Strong commitment to supporting students with special education needs and their families.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to foster professional and positive relationships with students, staff, families, and community partners.
- Ability to use effective communication techniques, such as active listening and appropriate communication channels.
- Prior school-based experience is preferred.
