This rewarding contract position offers the chance to deliver individualized assessment and therapy, as well as provide essential support to staff and families. As a valued team member within special education services, you’ll play a key role in helping students develop essential communication skills in both classroom and community environments.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Virginia SLP License
- Experience in assessment, evaluation, and consultation for students with special education needs
- Strong commitment to serving students and families
- Solid understanding of special education processes and disability categories
- Effective planning, organizational, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to bring a sense of fun and lightheartedness to the workplace
- Proficiency in communication, both active listening and two-way feedback
- Previous school-based experience preferred, especially with elementary-aged children
- Comfortable working in-person, full-time (Monday–Friday, 40 hours/week)
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative speech/language services for students
- Conduct screenings, evaluations, and assessments for speech, language, and auditory development
- Serve as a collaborative member of multidisciplinary teams, contributing to IEP planning
- Maintain regular, effective communication with staff, families, and external agencies to monitor progress
- Provide guidance to education staff on effective language program applications in various settings
This role begins August 13th, 2025 and runs through May 21st, 2026.
The position includes a competitive pay rate starting at $47/hour (with potential for an increase based on credentials), health, dental, vision, and 401(k) benefits, plus travel stipends for eligible candidates and guaranteed hours for both direct and indirect service time.
