Qualifications & Desired Experience

  • Valid Virginia SLP license or eligibility for licensure
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP-CCC), Clinical Fellowship Year (SLP-CFY) also considered
  • Experience in pediatric settings, preferably in schools
  • Knowledge of best practices for therapy with elementary-aged children
  • Strong communication and organizational abilities
  • Commitment to evidence-based interventions
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with teachers, families, and related service providers

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct speech and language therapy to students in elementary grade levels
  • Conduct assessments and screenings to identify speech/language needs
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the school team
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation and progress reports
  • Offer guidance and support to classroom teachers and families regarding student needs
  • Participate in school meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions
  • Adapt services to both single and two-school assignment structures as required
