That commitment to exceptional care has earned the hospital Magnet designation, the nation’s highest recognition for nursing excellence.

Moses Cone Hospital welcomed its first patient in 1953, built through a trust established by Bertha Cone in memory of her husband, Moses. Today, it serves as Cone Health’s flagship facility, a 628-bed teaching hospital and regional referral center providing a wide range of specialized services, including a Women’s & Children’s Center, Level II Trauma Center, and comprehensive stroke program.

The hospital’s beauty can also be experienced throughout its physical environment. A welcoming fountain and covered entrance greet visitors, while an interfaith chapel provides a peaceful place for reflection. Meaningful works of art throughout the campus add warmth and inspiration, including Corous, a heart-inspired sculpture created through a partnership with the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro. Other treasured pieces include a wooden sculpture created by employees from trees removed during construction of the Women’s & Children’s Center and the vibrant Our Community, Our Health: Exceptional Care Belongs to All of Us! mosaic mural in the lobby.
