Interventional Radiology Nurse Duties

IR RNs are required to possess a high level of knowledge and expertise in their department due to patients’ diverse needs. They are involved from preparation through post-procedure to ensure patient safety and effective care. Prior to the procedure, IR RNs are responsible for prepping the patient including checking vitals, reviewing lab results and medical history, and reviewing patient medications. They are also tasked with providing information to patients and family members about the procedures and answering any questions they may have. During the procedure, IR RNs also assist with inserting and removing intravenous lines, administering medications as needed, and monitoring patient vitals. After the procedure, IR RNs continue to monitor the patient to ensure that they are observed for any alarming signs or symptoms, making sure they feel comfortable and administering any post-procedure care. IR RNs provide incomparable care to their patients and Soliant strives to provide incomparable support to IR RNs and their career needs.

Interventional Radiology Nurse Requirements

Education requirements to become an IR RN are to obtain either an Associate Degree in Nursing or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Upon completing your courses, you’ll need to pass the National Council Licensure Exam (NCLEX), a standardized test that varies by state to ensure that you have the knowledge and skills needed to work in the nursing field. After completing the required experience hours as an RN as well as continuing education in Radiology, you will need to pass the Certified Radiology Nurse Exam through the Association for Radiologic & Imaging Nurses. To practice advanced specialty in radiology, you’ll need to achieve a Master of Science in Nursing or a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree.

Interventional Radiology Nurse Travel Jobs

As a travel IR RN, your responsibilities will remain the same as though you were in a permanent position. The greatest difference is that your assignments will typically be shorter in duration, presenting you with the opportunity to travel to the places that you’d prefer. One of the many benefits that come with being a travel IR RN is that you will have the flexibility to take extended breaks in between assignments if you prefer. This will give you some time to explore new places and decide where you’d like your next assignment to be. The Soliant team has you covered when it comes to discovering your next travel opportunity.
