An opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse in a Medically Complex Rehabilitation Unit (MRU) within a dynamic long-term acute care environment. This contract role specializes in the care of patients with LVAD, CVA, ABI, SCI, wounds, CAPD, and vents. The environment differs from traditional Med/Surg, focusing on high-acuity rehabilitation and acute needs.
Schedule/Hours:
- 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
- Every other weekend required
Qualifications:
- Valid, unencumbered RN license
- 1-2 years of RN experience required; experience in respiratory/vented patient care strongly preferred
- Prior travel assignment experience highly valued
- Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to float assignments between acute care units (MRU and CMU)
- Experience with medically complex patient populations beneficial
Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized nursing care for complex rehab and long-term acute conditions
- Float between like units as needed; may split time between two units during a shift
- Initiate IVs, administer drips, blood products, and titrate medications
- Conduct EKGs, glucose monitoring, and wound vac changes
- Perform wound dressing (simple and complex), tracheostomy care, suctioning, and straight catheterizations
- Deliver foley care, port access, and central line dressing changes
- Responsible for wound measurements and documentation
- Collaborate with respiratory therapists who manage ventilators
- Communicate changes in patient status efficiently within a multidisciplinary team

$1,895 - $2,074/Week Estimated weekly earnings represent hourly wages, based on 36 hours per week, and expense reimbursement for eligible candidates. The actual amount may vary based on hours worked, eligibility for reimbursements, and seasonal adjustments.
