Advance your nursing career in a fast-paced cardiac stepdown environment specializing in high-acuity care. This contract opportunity is ideal for experienced RNs passionate about delivering exceptional patient-centered care while leveraging their cardiac telemetry expertise.
Schedule:
- Night shifts (12-hour), 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend required
- 13-week engagement
Qualifications:
- Active RN license in New York State
- Minimum 5 years recent RN experience, with at least 2 years in a cardiac telemetry or stepdown/progressive care setting
- Cardiac telemetry proficiency required (including TAVR, Watchman, mitral clips, heart catheterizations, pre- and post-op open heart procedures, and cardiac IV/PO medication/drip management)
- Familiarity with care for conditions such as CHF, NSTEMI/STEMI, post-op CABG, arrythmias, PE, post CVICU transfer, sepsis, pneumonia, stroke, and observation patients
- Skilled in use of TR band, groin management, and monitoring for complications
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- Completed, accurate telemetry skills checklist (submit upon application)
Responsibilities:
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care for cardiac stepdown patients
- Serve as primary nurse and coordinate care based on safety, effectiveness, and best practices
- Educate patients and families on health promotion, disease management, and recovery expectations
- Safely administer complex cardiac medications and monitor responses
- Comply with all professional standards, the New York Nurse Practice Act, and facility policies
- Engage in ongoing professional development and support the nursing shared governance model
- Create a positive learning environment for new staff and students
- Participate in unit quality, safety, and improvement initiatives
