Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) - Blacksburg, VA

Core Qualifications:

• Active and unencumbered RN license
• Minimum of 1 year of recent acute care stepdown experience
• Strong assessment, monitoring, and documentation skills
• Proficiency in interpreting cardiac rhythms and responding to rapid changes in patient condition
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Ability to function efficiently in fast-paced environments

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients requiring closer observation than general med-surg, but not as intensive as ICU
• Monitor patient vitals, conduct frequent assessments, and promptly identify status changes
• Administer medications, manage IV lines, and provide patient/family education
• Collaborate closely with physicians, LPNs, and support staff to optimize patient outcomes
• Accurately document interventions and responses in compliance with facility protocols
• Uphold infection prevention standards and patient safety best practices
