A rewarding opportunity is available for an experienced Registered Nurse to support cardiac stepdown patients in a fast-paced intermediate care environment. This contract position involves delivering high-quality care to progressive-level heart, lung, and vascular patients, including those stepping down from the OR and ICU, as well as caring for individuals with sepsis, pneumonia, and oncology needs.
Schedule & Assignment Details:
- Night shift position
- Contract duration options: 13 or 26 weeks
- 36 hours per week guaranteed (option to request 48 hours per week)
- Every other weekend and at least one major winter holiday required
- Up to 5 days off per 13-week contract can be automatically approved
Required Qualifications:
- Active RN license and current ACLS & BLS certifications
- Minimum 1 year of recent cardiac stepdown or progressive care nursing experience
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical records (this is a must)
- Strong communication skills and a dedication to working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Flu vaccination required between November 1 - April 1 (unless formally exempted)
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver evidence-based nursing care, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation for cardiac stepdown patients
- Administer and monitor vasoactive drips, manage chest tubes and lines, and respond to complex needs
- Educate patients and families about conditions, medications, and self-care practices
- Meticulously document care using EPIC
- Collaborate with providers and the care team to promote optimal patient outcomes
- Prioritize patient safety and confidentiality at all times
- Coach, supervise, and delegate tasks to assistive personnel as appropriate
