Deliver expert nursing care while supporting patients recovering in a progressive cardiac stepdown unit. This role suits a registered nurse skilled in Cardiac Med Intermediate care and experienced with EPIC electronic medical records. The position offers a night shift schedule with 36 weekly guaranteed hours and the possibility of additional hours based on candidate preference. This contract opportunity lasts between 13 to 26 weeks and is located in Cape Girardeau, MO.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement nursing diagnoses and care plans for cardiac, pulmonary, vascular, oncology, and progressive care patients.
- Monitor and document patient conditions, administer medications and treatments, including IV therapy and wound care.
- Coordinate care with interdisciplinary team members, providing emotional and educational support to patients and families.
- Maintain a safe care environment compliant with infection control, medication administration standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as a patient advocate by identifying safety concerns and adhering to professional nursing standards.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to unlicensed assistive personnel and ancillary staff.
- Utilize EPIC for accurate and timely patient record documentation.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active RN license with at least 1 year of stepdown nursing experience.
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications.
- Proficiency and experience with EPIC electronic medical records.
- Ability to manage patient ratios of approximately 1:3-4 in a critical care environment.
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented approach.
Additional Information:
- Work every other weekend with some holiday requirements.
- Black scrubs required as dress code.
- Flu vaccination required during flu season (Nov 1–Apr 1), subject to client exceptions.
- Candidates can request up to 5 days off per 13-week period, with standard approval processes.
