Step into a crucial nursing role providing specialized care in a Cardiac Stepdown/Intermediate Care setting. The focus is on supporting patients with progressive cardiac, heart, lung, vascular, and oncology diagnoses—including post-OR and ICU stepdowns, sepsis, and pneumonia. This contract spans 13-26 weeks, offering an engaging work environment within a dedicated intermediate care unit.
Schedule/Hours:
- Guaranteed 36 hours per week (nights); option for 48 hours if you prefer added shifts.
- Every other weekend (full Saturday and Sunday) required, unless otherwise approved.
- Flexibility with up to 5 days off per 13-week period, subject to guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Active RN licensure.
- Minimum 1 year of stepdown or progressive care experience.
- Valid ACLS and BLS certifications.
- EPIC documentation experience required.
- Strong communication skills, commitment to teamwork, and a patient-centered mindset are essential.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Deliver skilled nursing care by forming and adjusting individualized plans based on patient needs and ongoing assessments.
- Monitor, record, and promptly report changes in patients’ conditions.
- Administer medications, provide advanced care (including central line/IV therapy and wound care), and quickly respond to emergencies.
- Educate patients and families on self-care, medication, disease management, and recovery strategies.
- Maintain infection control standards, support patient and staff safety, and uphold confidentiality in compliance with regulations.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate and optimize patient care.
- Maintain detailed patient documentation via EPIC.
- Adhere to dress code: black scrubs.
- Fulfill additional duties as necessary to uphold quality of care and organizational values.
