PCU/Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) | Cary, North Carolina

Embark on a rewarding 13-week contract opportunity providing skilled nursing care in a dynamic stepdown environment. This vital role supports patients transitioning from critical care, ensuring they receive the highest level of attention and clinical expertise. The upcoming assignment begins September 21, 2026, and is structured for nurses with proven stepdown nursing experience.

Schedule:

• 3x12-hour night shifts (7:00 pm – 7:30 am)
• Every other weekend required

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of recent Stepdown or Emergency Room experience
• Active NC or Compact RN license at submission
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications
• EPIC charting proficiency required
• First-time travelers will not be considered; strong prior travel or contract experience is preferred

Responsibilities:

• Deliver expert, compassionate nursing care to stepdown patients with diverse diagnoses
• Accurately monitor, document, and communicate assessments, interventions, and patient responses using EPIC electronic health records
• Collaborate closely with physicians and care teams to coordinate safe, evidence-based interventions
• Maintain safe staffing ratios of 1:4, prioritizing both clinical excellence and patient well-being
• Adapt to evolving patient care needs and effectively manage a busy night shift caseload
