Step into a dynamic role as a Registered Nurse in a Cardiac Stepdown setting, providing essential progressive care to patients recovering from cardiac, vascular, and critical illness. Your expertise will contribute to a 14-bed intermediate care unit, where you’ll deliver comprehensive support and collaborate closely with an experienced multidisciplinary team.
Schedule & Assignment Details:
- Night shift (36 hours/week guaranteed; 13–26 week contract)
- Opportunity to request 36 or 48 hours per week
- Every other weekend and at least one major winter holiday required
- Up to five days of requested time off per 13 weeks automatically approved
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid RN license and current ACLS & BLS certifications
- At least 1 year of recent Stepdown experience
- Experience using EPIC electronic medical records is a must
- Ability to manage cardiac lines, chest tubes, and vasopressor drips
- Strong communication skills and collaborative team approach
- Dedication to positive patient outcomes and high professional standards
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and adapt nursing care plans for patients with heart, lung, vascular, and progressive care diagnoses
- Provide skilled assessments, treatments, and interventions (including IV therapy and wound care)
- Monitor, record, and report changes in patient conditions
- Educate patients and families regarding disease prevention, management, and self-care
- Maintain documentation integrity within EPIC systems
- Ensure safety and compliance with all hospital and Joint Commission standards
- Mentor and delegate to unlicensed assistive personnel as appropriate
