Deliver advanced nursing care in a Cardiac Stepdown unit supporting patients transitioning from OR and ICU with cardiac, lung, vascular, and progressive care needs. This local contract position offers the opportunity to provide critical care to complex patients in a 14-bed unit using EPIC electronic medical records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care, including physical, emotional, and psychological support, to patients with cardiac and progressive diagnoses
  • Monitor and reevaluate patient status, administer medications, perform wound care, and assist with exams
  • Collaborate closely with healthcare team members to develop and implement patient-centered care plans
  • Maintain documentation in EPIC EMR and uphold standards of quality and safety according to regulatory guidelines
  • Administer IV therapy, manage central lines, and recognize adverse patient reactions
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to unlicensed assistive personnel as appropriate
  • Promote a culture of safety, adhering to infection control and patient safety goals

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Registered Nurse license with 1+ years in stepdown or progressive care nursing
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
  • Proficiency in EPIC electronic medical records essential
  • Experience caring for cardiac, lung, vascular, sepsis, pneumonia, and oncology patients preferred
  • Ability to work nights, weekends as needed, and major holidays according to unit requirements
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative team approach

Additional Details:

  • Night shift, 36 hours per week guaranteed
  • Contract duration: 13 to 26 weeks
  • Black scrub dress code
  • Flu vaccination required during flu season (Nov-April) unless exempted
