Stepdown Unit Nurse (RN) in Christiansburg, VA

Stepdown RNs are essential to ensuring the safe transition of patients requiring an intermediate level of care between intensive and general medical units. Qualifications:

• Current and unencumbered RN license
• Minimum of one year of recent experience in a stepdown, progressive care, or similar setting
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required
• Strong assessment, clinical, and communication skills
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and vital sign monitoring equipment

Key Responsibilities:

• Continuously assess and monitor patients recovering from critical illness or surgery, intervening promptly as needed
• Administer medications, manage IV lines, and perform complex nursing procedures within the stepdown unit
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other care team members to develop and update care plans
• Provide compassionate education and emotional support to patients and their families
• Adhere to evidence-based practices, all policies, standards, and safety protocols to promote quality care
