Stepdown Registered Nurse - Edgewood, New Mexico

Nurses with experience in progressive care and stepdown settings will find this contract opportunity an excellent fit. This role involves night shifts in a busy PCU unit with 55 beds, focusing on cardiovascular care. Flexibility is provided with the choice of working either 36 or 48 hours per week, using a standard night schedule of four 12-hour shifts (18:30 - 07:00). First-time travelers and local travelers are welcome. Candidates should have at least one year of recent stepdown experience, though two years is preferred.

Schedule/Hours:

• Night shifts: 4x12-hour (18:30 - 07:00)
• Option of 36 or 48 hours per week
• Weekend shifts required as needed and on a rotating basis
• Float as needed within unit requirements
• On-call not required
• Block scheduling may be considered on a case-by-case basis

Qualifications:

• Active and unencumbered RN license
• Minimum of 1 year recent stepdown or PCU experience (2 years preferred)
• Cardiovascular care experience required
• BLS and ACLS certifications (CPI preferred)
• EPIC documentation experience a plus
• Comfortable floating within similar units
• Professional, team-focused attitude

Responsibilities:

• Monitor and manage care of patients with complex conditions, particularly those recovering from cardiac events or procedures
• Maintain accurate documentation using EPIC
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to support patient recovery
• Respond quickly to changes in patient condition and follow established protocols
• Adhere to policies, infection control, and safety procedures
