Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a Cardiac Stepdown/Progressive Care Unit contract. This role offers a dynamic environment focused on high-acuity cardiac patients and advanced telemetry monitoring. The position is designed for RNs dedicated to delivering evidence-based, patient-centered care and contributing to the ongoing professional practice environment.

Schedule:

  • 12-hour night shifts
  • 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend commitment
  • 13-week assignment

Qualifications:

  • Active RN license in good standing
  • Minimum of 5 years nursing experience, with significant focus in a cardiac telemetry unit
  • Advanced skills in managing patients with heart-related conditions including experience with TAVR, Watchman, mitral clips, heart catheterizations, and pre/post CVICU open heart cases (>3 days post-CABG)
  • Proficient with cardiac drips (cardizem, amiodarone, dobutamine, lidocaine, milrinone, heparin, insulin) and anticoagulant therapy
  • Strong background in managing CHF, chest pain, arrhythmias, NSTEMI, STEMI, PE, sepsis, PNA, stroke, and observation patients
  • Confident in groin management, TR band use, and recognizing complications
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Completion of telemetry skills checklist (must be submitted with application)
  • Previous experience with patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration

Responsibilities:

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a diverse cardiac population
  • Serve as a primary and/or accountable nurse, coordinating care and delegating as appropriate
  • Educate and support patients and their families in health promotion and ongoing care needs
  • Administer medications safely, following established protocols
  • Participate actively in unit quality and performance initiatives
  • Maintain compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards
  • Contribute to an environment supportive of continuous learning for self, peers, and new team members
