Skilled Registered Nurses with stepdown experience are needed for this cardiac intermediate care unit contract. This position supports a 14-bed progressive care setting serving heart, lung, and vascular patients, including those stepping down from the OR and ICU, as well as oncology and sepsis cases. Night shifts are available, with 36 guaranteed hours per week and every other full weekend required. Contracts are available for 13 to 26 weeks, with flexible weekly hours (36 or 48) based on candidate preference. Flu vaccination is required between November 1 and April 1.
Qualifications:
- Valid RN license and eligibility to practice.
- A minimum of 1 year experience in stepdown nursing.
- Current BLS and ACLS certification.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EPIC charting system (required).
- Experience caring for cardiac, progressive-level patients strongly preferred.
- Dedication to communication, collaboration, and positive patient outcomes.
- Ability to float within scope as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition changes using EPIC.
- Deliver patient-centered care, including medication administration, wound care, IV therapy, and assisting with exams.
- Educate patients and families about conditions, medications, and at-home care.
- Coordinate care with interdisciplinary team members.
- Maintain infection prevention, safety, and organizational standards.
- Respond promptly to emergencies, recognizing and managing adverse symptoms.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to assistive personnel appropriately.

- Scrub color is black; specific attire requirements apply.
- Expectation to work at least one major winter holiday.
- Up to 5 days off per 13-week contract can be automatically approved.
- No call requirements.
