An opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse specializing in the Cardiac Stepdown/Intermediate Care Unit. This contract engagement supports progressive-level cardiac, heart, lung, and vascular patients, including those transitioning from OR or ICU, as well as individuals with sepsis, pneumonia, oncology diagnoses, and other progressive care needs.
Schedule/Hours:
- Night shifts
- 36 guaranteed hours weekly
- Every other weekend required (Saturday and Sunday unless otherwise approved)
- 13-26 week contract, with the potential for either 36 or 48 hours per week, per your preference
Key Qualifications:
- Active RN license
- At least 1 year of recent experience in Stepdown/Cardiac Intermediate Care
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications
- Proficient with EPIC EMR (required)
- Experience with cardiac lines, chest tubes, and vasoactive drips
- Strong communication, teamwork, and patient-centered approach
- Flu vaccination required between November 1 and April 1 (client-approved exceptions only)
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care, develop care plans, and implement interventions for cardiac stepdown patients
- Monitor, record, and communicate changes in patient conditions; modify treatment plans as needed
- Administer medications, IV therapy, and wound care; manage central lines
- Educate patients and families on care plans, disease prevention, and discharge procedures
- Maintain and document care in EPIC; uphold patient confidentiality and safety protocols
- Adhere to professional standards, organizational policies, Joint Commission, and legal requirements
- Support a collaborative, safe, and positive team culture
- Occasional floating within scope as needed
