Elevate your nursing career by supporting patients in a dynamic Cardiac Stepdown environment. This contract role offers the opportunity to provide advanced care for individuals with complex cardiac needs over a 13-week assignment.
Schedule:
- 12-hour night shifts
- 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend coverage
Qualifications:
- Current, unrestricted RN license
- Minimum of 5 years RN experience
- Demonstrated proficiency in cardiac stepdown/PCU nursing, including telemetry monitoring
- Experience in a cardiovascular telemetry unit managing TAVR, Watchman procedures, mitral clips, heart catheterizations, pre-op/post-op open heart cases (post CVICU transfer), and post-CABG (beyond 3 days)
- Advanced skills in drip management (cardizem, amiodarone, dobutamine, lidocaine, milrinone, heparin, insulin) and cardiac medications (IV and PO)
- Competency in anticoagulant management, CHF, chest pain, arrhythmias, NSTEMI, STEMI, pulmonary embolism, sepsis, pneumonia, stroke, and observation patients
- Familiarity with use of TR bands, groin management, and recognizing related complications
- BLS and ACLS certifications (current)
- Comprehensive telemetry skills checklist required upon submission
Responsibilities:
- Assess, plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a defined patient group, serving as primary or accountable nurse as assigned
- Educate patients and families on health promotion, disease management, and recovery resources
- Administer medications safely and monitor therapeutic responses
- Ensure compliance with New York State Nurse Practice Act and facility standards
- Promote a healing, patient-centered environment and participate in continuous quality improvement
- Support newly hired staff and students through ongoing mentorship and training
- Engage in professional development and keep up with current standards of cardiac and stepdown care
