Schedule/Hours
- 12-hour night shifts
- Every other weekend and every other holiday
This role places you at the center of a high-acuity, 33-bed stepdown (PCU) unit dedicated to complex cardiac, vascular, and med-surg patients, including post-cath and post-pacemaker cases. You will work alongside a supportive interdisciplinary team with access to excellent ancillary staff and advanced clinical resources.
Qualifications
- Current RN licensure in Ohio or compact state
- Minimum 2 years recent stepdown/PCU experience required
- BLS, ACLS, and NIH certifications required
- Dysrhythmia competency required (study guide available)
- Comfortable with devices such as PICCs, dialysis catheters, PEG tubes, chest tubes, and advanced airway modalities
- Strong telemetry skills and ability to interpret strips in EPIC EMR
- Exceptional communication, adaptability, and teamwork skills
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments; create, implement, and evaluate care plans
- Safely administer cardiac and critical care medications/drips
- Serve as a patient advocate, collaborating with interdisciplinary team and families
- Respond rapidly to changing patient conditions; prioritize evidence-based, patient-centered decisions
- Mentor and orient new team members as needed
- Ensure infection control and adhere to PPE protocols
