Advance your nursing career with a specialized opportunity focusing on stepdown and cardiac stepdown care. This contract role is designed for experienced Registered Nurses who have a robust background in cardiac telemetry, providing critical support for patients transitioning from higher levels of acuity.

Schedule:

  • 12-hour night shifts
  • 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend
  • 13-week contract term

Qualifications:

  • Active RN license
  • Minimum 5 years of RN experience
  • Recent work in a cardiac telemetry or cardiac stepdown/PCU setting
  • Demonstrated experience with TAVR, Watchman, mitral clips, heart catheterizations, pre/post-op open heart procedures (post-CVICU transfer), and post-op CABG care (>3 days out)
  • Proficient with cardiac IV and PO medications, a range of cardiac drips at flat rates (including cardizem, amiodarone, dobutamine, lidocaine, milrinone, heparin, insulin), and management of anticoagulant therapy
  • Skilled in the care of patients with CHF, chest pain, arrhythmias, NSTEMI, STEMI, PE, sepsis, pneumonia, stroke, and observation patients
  • Competence in use of TR bands, groin management, and complication recognition
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Cardiac telemetry skills checklist completion required

Responsibilities:

  • Assess, plan, coordinate, and evaluate comprehensive patient care
  • Serve as a primary nurse as assigned, ensuring effective and safe management for all assigned patients
  • Educate patients and families on disease processes, health promotion, and recovery strategies
  • Administer prescribed treatments and medications with deep understanding of cardiac pharmacology
  • Comply with practice standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies
  • Participate in quality improvement, shared governance, and ongoing clinical education
  • Provide mentorship for new staff and students, fostering a clinical learning environment
