Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) - Rio Rancho, NM

Deliver direct patient care and clinical expertise in a fast-paced stepdown unit within a highly respected heart hospital. This contract opportunity provides flexible scheduling with the option of either 36 or 48 hours per week, offering excellent work-life balance. The position is ideal for Registered Nurses with a strong cardiovascular background who excel in dynamic environments.

Schedule/Hours:

• Night shifts: 4x12 hours (18:30 – 07:00)
• Rotating weekends as needed
• Block scheduling available on a case-by-case basis
• Floating required within the facility
• No on-call requirement

Qualifications:

• Current, unencumbered RN license
• Minimum 1 year of recent PCU/stepdown experience (2 years preferred)
• Experience in cardiovascular care required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; CPI certification preferred
• EPIC documentation experience preferred
• Open to both local and travel nurses, including first-time travelers

Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive care to patients in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care in accordance with established policies and standards
• Effectively manage a patient ratio of 1:4 within a 55-bed unit
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary care team in a highly specialized cardiovascular setting
• Respond promptly to acute changes in patient status and escalate care as needed
• Float to other units as assigned, demonstrating adaptability and strong clinical skills
• Document all care accurately in the EPIC system
