PCU/Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) | Roanoke, Virginia

Stepdown Registered Nurses play a vital role in delivering high-quality care to patients requiring close monitoring and support between the intensive care unit and general medical-surgical units. Key Responsibilities:

• Continuously assess, monitor, and manage patients recovering from acute illnesses or procedures
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
• Utilize critical thinking skills in rapidly changing patient conditions
• Provide compassionate support, education, and communication to patients and their families
• Accurately document patient status, care provided, and changes in condition
• Ensure adherence to best practices and established protocols for safety and infection control

Requirements:

• Current and valid RN license
• Demonstrated experience in a stepdown or progressive care unit strongly preferred
• Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) and basic life support (BLS) certification
• Strong assessment and clinical judgment skills
• Ability to manage complex patient needs in a fast-paced environment
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities
• Familiarity with electronic health records systems
