Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) - Salem, VA

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Active, unencumbered RN license
• Minimum of one year of experience in a Stepdown or Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Demonstrated proficiency with critical monitoring and patient assessment
• Solid understanding of complex medical conditions and interventions
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Strong problem-solving ability and adaptability
• EMR proficiency preferred

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct, high-acuity nursing care to patients in the Stepdown unit
• Monitor, assess, and document patient condition, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to create and update individualized care plans
• Administer prescribed medications, treatments, and therapies safely and accurately
• Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient status
• Educate patients and families regarding procedures, recovery processes, and ongoing care needs
• Maintain compliance with policy, procedures, and best practices in care delivery
• Participate actively in quality improvement initiatives within the unit
