Advance your nursing career in a cardiac stepdown environment providing high-level, progressive care for heart, lung, and vascular patients. Work hands-on within a 14-bed cardiac intermediate care unit, collaborating closely with a dedicated interdisciplinary team to achieve positive patient outcomes.

Schedule/Hours:

  • Night shift
  • Weekly guaranteed hours: 36
  • Weekend requirements: every other full weekend (Saturday and Sunday)
  • Contract duration: 13–26 weeks, with start and end dates flexible to candidate needs

Qualifications:

  • Active RN license
  • ACLS and BLS certifications required
  • Minimum of 1 year of prior stepdown or progressive care unit experience
  • Proficient with EPIC electronic medical records (must-have)
  • Strong teamwork, professional communication, and patient-centered approach
  • Flu vaccination required for assignments from November 1–April 1 (exceptions require facility approval)
  • Willingness to float within usual scope as needed

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct and holistic nursing care to progressive-level cardiac and vascular patients, including complex cases post-OR/ICU, sepsis, pneumonia, and oncology
  • Monitor, record, and report symptoms and patient status changes using EPIC
  • Develop and adjust individualized care plans and coordinate patient care with providers and multi-disciplinary staff
  • Administer IV therapy, medications, wound care, and monitor for side effects or adverse reactions
  • Educate patients and families regarding procedures, treatment, and self-care skills
  • Maintain strict adherence to infection control, medication administration, documentation standards, and organization policies
  • Participate in safety practices including bedside shift reports and safety huddles
  • Ensure compliance with professional standards, legal regulations, and accreditation requirements
