Advance your nursing career in a cardiac stepdown environment providing high-level, progressive care for heart, lung, and vascular patients. Work hands-on within a 14-bed cardiac intermediate care unit, collaborating closely with a dedicated interdisciplinary team to achieve positive patient outcomes.
Schedule/Hours:
- Night shift
- Weekly guaranteed hours: 36
- Weekend requirements: every other full weekend (Saturday and Sunday)
- Contract duration: 13–26 weeks, with start and end dates flexible to candidate needs
Qualifications:
- Active RN license
- ACLS and BLS certifications required
- Minimum of 1 year of prior stepdown or progressive care unit experience
- Proficient with EPIC electronic medical records (must-have)
- Strong teamwork, professional communication, and patient-centered approach
- Flu vaccination required for assignments from November 1–April 1 (exceptions require facility approval)
- Willingness to float within usual scope as needed
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and holistic nursing care to progressive-level cardiac and vascular patients, including complex cases post-OR/ICU, sepsis, pneumonia, and oncology
- Monitor, record, and report symptoms and patient status changes using EPIC
- Develop and adjust individualized care plans and coordinate patient care with providers and multi-disciplinary staff
- Administer IV therapy, medications, wound care, and monitor for side effects or adverse reactions
- Educate patients and families regarding procedures, treatment, and self-care skills
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control, medication administration, documentation standards, and organization policies
- Participate in safety practices including bedside shift reports and safety huddles
- Ensure compliance with professional standards, legal regulations, and accreditation requirements
