Stepdown Registered Nurse - Sikeston, Missouri

Experienced RNs are needed for a contract role in a Cardiac Stepdown unit. This position offers an opportunity to provide advanced care to progressive-level cardiac, heart/lung, vascular, and oncology patients. Nurses in this environment deliver comprehensive, holistic care, utilizing their expertise to guide patients and their families through complex health challenges.

Schedule:

• Night shift
• 36 hours per week guaranteed (option for 48 hours if preferred)
• Every other full weekend required
• Holiday coverage: at least one major winter holiday
• Up to 5 days off per 13-week contract (with pre-approval for additional time)
• Float within scope as needed

Required Qualifications:

• Active RN license
• Minimum 1 year of previous stepdown experience
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Proven EPIC EMR experience (required)
• Familiarity with lines, chest tubes, vasoactive drips
• Strong communication skills and dedication to patient outcomes
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
• Flu vaccination required from November 1–April 1 (unless medically exempt)
• Must adhere to professional standards and organization dress code (black scrubs)

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and update patient care plans, perform nursing assessments, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams
• Monitor, document, and communicate changes in patients’ conditions
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and specialized interventions
• Educate patients and families on conditions, medications, and discharge instructions
• Ensure compliance with infection control, safety standards, and accreditation requirements
• Participate in patient safety practices, including bedside shift reports and safety huddles

This is a 13–26 week contract assignment in a fast-paced setting where your clinical skills and compassion will contribute directly to the patient journey.
