Step into a vital role on a Cardiac Med Intermediate Care Unit, delivering expert nursing care to progressive care patients in a dynamic, team-oriented environment. This contract opportunity offers the chance to work nights (36 guaranteed hours weekly) with a standard expectation of every other full weekend and opportunities for time-off flexibility. Contract durations range from 13 to 26 weeks.

Schedule:

  • Night shift
  • 36 hours per week guaranteed
  • Every other weekend required

Qualifications:

  • Active RN license
  • Minimum 1 year recent Stepdown nursing experience
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications
  • Prior EPIC EMR experience is essential
  • Demonstrated expertise with cardiac, vascular, and pulmonary patients (including lines, chest tubes, vaso drips)
  • Dedicated team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to adapt in a fast-paced setting

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care for cardiac stepdown and progressive care populations (heart, lung, vascular, oncology, sepsis, pneumonia, post-ICU/OR)
  • Collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes
  • Develop and update nursing care plans; provide thorough patient and family education regarding conditions, medications, and self-care
  • Adhere to infection-control, medication administration, and safety protocols at all times
  • Chart accurately using EPIC system
  • Recognize and respond promptly to adverse patient conditions or emergencies
  • Delegate appropriately to support staff; maintain compliance with Joint Commission standards
  • Model professionalism and patient advocacy
