Excel in a dynamic cardiac stepdown setting, utilizing your expertise as a Registered Nurse to deliver specialized patient care. This role is crucial for managing complex cardiac cases and requires strong clinical judgment, dedication to patient safety, and a detail-oriented approach.
Schedule:
- 12-hour night shifts
- 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation
- 13-week contract assignment
Qualifications:
- Active RN license (New York State)
- Minimum of 5 years of RN experience
- At least 5 years of experience in a cardiac telemetry/stepdown unit
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS (current)
- Proficiency managing complex cardiac patients: familiarity with TAVR, Watchman procedures, mitral clips, heart catheterizations, pre/post-op open heart (when transferred out of CVICU), cardiac IV/PO, and cardiac drips (cardizem, amiodarone, dobutamine, lidocaine, milrinone, heparin, insulin)
- Extensive knowledge in management of anticoagulants, CHF, chest pain, arrhythmias, NSTEMI, STEMI, PE, post-op CABG (>3 days), sepsis, pneumonia, stroke, observation patients, TR band use, and groin management
- Strong ability to recognize and intervene in cardiac complications
- Must complete a cardiac telemetry skills checklist prior to submission
- Demonstrated clinical leadership and participation in peer review/initiation improvement initiatives
- Strong communication and teaching abilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care for cardiac stepdown patients
- Educate patients and families on disease management and prevention
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and participate in Unit Council
- Safely administer cardiac-specific medications and drips per protocol
- Uphold the highest standards for care, compliance, and professional ethics
