Embark on a rewarding contract nursing role specializing in Cardiac Stepdown care. This opportunity seeks an experienced Registered Nurse skilled in cardiac telemetry to deliver comprehensive patient-centered care in a dynamic, high-acuity environment.
Schedule:
- 12-hour night shifts
- 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation
- 13-week assignment
Required Qualifications:
- Active RN license
- Minimum 5 years of RN experience
- Demonstrated expertise in a Cardiac Telemetry or Stepdown unit
- Telemetry skills checklist (to be completed accurately)
- Experience with advanced cardiac interventions including TAVR, Watchmans, mitral clips, heart catheterizations, preop/postop open heart (post-CVICU), and post-op CABG management
- Proficiency with cardiac IV/PO medications and flat-rate drips (cardizem, amiodarone, dobutamine, lidocaine, milrinone, heparin, insulin)
- Strong knowledge of treating anticoagulant therapy, CHF, chest pain, arrhythmias, NSTEMI/STEMI, PE, sepsis, pneumonia, stroke, and observation patients
- Hands-on experience with TR bands and groin management, with a thorough understanding of potential complications
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, plan, implement, coordinate, and evaluate individualized nursing care for a specialized cardiac population
- Educate patients and families regarding disease management and post-discharge care
- Safely administer medications and monitor patient responses
- Foster effective resource utilization including time, supplies, and staffing
- Maintain compliance with nursing standards, regulatory requirements, and evidence-based practice
- Participate in unit-based improvement initiatives, support peer review, and contribute to a culture of shared governance
- Mentor colleagues, welcome new staff, and support learning opportunities
