For 130 years, La Rabida Children’s Hospital has been a place of healing, hope, and joy on Chicago’s South Side. Nestled in historic Jackson Park along the breathtaking shores of Lake Michigan, our nautical-themed facility is beautiful by design. From its distinctive stone architecture and expansive windows that give every child a view of the water to its spectacular public park spaces, playful decor, and child-friendly charm, the interior setting gives children room to simply be kids while offering access to fresh air, changing seasons, and the restorative power of nature.

But the true beauty of La Rabida goes far beyond our picturesque setting. In an urban neighborhood disproportionately affected by social determinants of health, we provide exceptional, personalized care and wraparound support to a community too often overlooked. From an on-site food pantry and free fresh summer produce stand to transportation and holiday gifts for patients and their siblings, we meet families where they are and remove the barriers to care no matter the circumstances.

La Rabida may be beautiful on the outside, but true beauty is found within: compassionate professionals who bring skill and heart to every child they serve; volunteers who give their time to make families feel welcomed, supported, and cared for; and generations of children and families whose courage, determination, and hard-won victories are what make La Rabida beautiful inside and out.
