Position Title: Assistant Director of Special Education

Job Summary:

The Assistant Director of Special Education plays a crucial role in supporting the overall management and administration of special education programs and services within the organization. Working closely with the Director of Special Education, this position involves providing leadership, guidance, and oversight to ensure the delivery of high-quality, inclusive education for students with disabilities. The Assistant Director collaborates with school administrators, educators, families, and community stakeholders to promote student success, compliance with regulations, and continuous improvement in special education practices.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist the Director of Special Education in planning, implementing, and evaluating special education programs and services in alignment with federal and state regulations, district policies, and best practices.
2. Provide leadership and supervision to special education staff, including teachers, support personnel, and related service providers, to ensure effective delivery of instruction and support to students with disabilities.
3. Collaborate with school principals, curriculum coordinators, and other administrators to promote inclusive practices and support the integration of students with disabilities into general education settings.
4. Participate in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities, ensuring appropriate goals, services, and accommodations are provided to meet individual needs.
5. Coordinate and facilitate multidisciplinary team meetings, eligibility determinations, and reevaluations for students receiving special education services.
6. Oversee the collection, analysis, and reporting of data related to special education programs, student outcomes, and compliance indicators to inform decision-making and program improvement efforts.
7. Provide professional development and training opportunities for special education staff to enhance their knowledge, skills, and effectiveness in supporting students with disabilities.
8. Collaborate with parents/guardians of students with disabilities to ensure meaningful engagement in the special education process, address concerns, and facilitate communication between home and school.
9. Serve as a liaison between the special education department, district administrators, community agencies, and other stakeholders to foster partnerships and resources to support students with disabilities.
10. Stay informed about changes in special education laws, regulations, and trends, and provide guidance to ensure compliance and implementation of best practices.
11. Assist with budget planning, resource allocation, and grant management related to special education programs and services.
12. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education or district leadership.

Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Special Education, Educational Leadership, or related field.
- Valid state certification/license in Special Education Administration or eligibility for certification.
