High school school Special education teacher- 2024/2025 school year

We're seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team near Rockford, Illinois. This position offers the opportunity to work in a self-contained classroom, providing tailored support and instruction to students with diverse learning needs.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for each student, in collaboration with the IEP team.
• Provide differentiated instruction to meet the unique academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs of students.
• Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters student engagement and success.
• Utilize various instructional strategies, assistive technologies, and resources to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and parents/guardians to ensure the holistic development and well-being of students.
• Monitor student progress, assess learning outcomes, and adjust instructional approaches as needed.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including progress reports, attendance, and behavior documentation.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field.
• Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Special Education endorsement for high school level.
• Prior experience working with high school students with disabilities preferred.
• Strong understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support and advocate for students with special needs.
• Ability to adapt and be flexible in a dynamic educational environment.
