PCU RN (Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse)**

**Location:** South Charleston, WV

**Job Title: PCU RN (Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse)**

**Charting System:** Meditech/EPIC

**License to Submit:** Yes

**Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week

**Required Certifications:**
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)

**Shift:**
- Default: Nights
- Shift Length: 12 hours
- Shift Notes: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM. Weekends and holidays as needed.

**Common Diagnoses/Types of Patients:**
- Post-op vascular
- Hemodynamically stable cardiac dysrhythmias
- CVA (Cerebrovascular Accident)
- Sepsis
- Renal patients
- Stable acute MI (Myocardial Infarction)
- Unstable angina
- Post Cardiac Cath with PCTA (Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty) or with a significant blockage

**Experience:**
- ICU skill set required due to potential floating to ICU or Stepdown
- Experience with Bipap, Cpap, Mechanical Ventilation, telemetry, critical drips, and post cardiac cath care required
- CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy) and IABP (Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump) preferred
- 1-2 years of critical care experience

**Are RNs Required to Titrated Drips?:** Yes

**Common Titratable &/or Set Rate Drips:**
- Insulin
- Cardizem
- Heparin
- Amiodarone
- Low dose Dopamine

**Weekend Requirement:** Every other weekend

**Holiday Requirement:** Rotational

**Floating Requirement:** Travel staff are required to float to Med-Surg Telemetry if not needed in ICU or Stepdown. Also required to float to the Emergency Department to care for boarded PCU or ICU patients.
