Special Education Teacher (Autism Educator) - Augusta, GA

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of students with autism? We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team in Augusta, GA, for the 2023-2024 academic year. As an Autism Educator, you will play a vital role in providing inclusive and personalized education to students with diverse needs.

Position: Special Education Teacher (Autism Educator)

Location: Augusta, GA 

Licensure/Certification: GA Special Education P-8 Licensure required for Middle School positions / Elementary positions will also need adaptive certification.

Start/End Dates: July 27, 2024 – May 24, 2025

Hours: Full-Time, 37.5 hours/week

Grades: Elementary / Middle School

Caseload: Approximately 12 students per class, with the possibility of slight variations.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with autism to ensure their academic, social, and emotional needs are met.
  • Utilize evidence-based teaching strategies and interventions to support student learning and development.
  • Collaborate with other educators, therapists, and support staff to create a cohesive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor and track student progress, making data-driven decisions to optimize student outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or related field.
  • Valid GA Special Education P-8 Licensure for Middle School positions / Adaptive certification for Elementary positions.
  • Previous experience working with students with autism or related developmental disabilities is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
