Special Education Teacher
Location: Holstein, WI
Description: We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team at [School Name/District] in Holstein, WI. In this role, you will work with students who have diverse learning needs and provide instruction and support to help them succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. As a Special Education Teacher, you will collaborate with colleagues, families, and other professionals to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and create a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs, including setting appropriate academic and behavioral goals and objectives.
- Provide direct instruction to students with disabilities, using research-based instructional strategies and accommodations to meet their unique learning needs.
- Collaborate with general education teachers and other school staff to modify curriculum and provide appropriate accommodations and supports for students with disabilities in the general education classroom.
- Assess student progress and use data to inform instructional decisions and adjust interventions as needed to promote student growth and achievement.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to share student progress, discuss concerns, and solicit input on student goals and interventions.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, including IEP meetings and student support team meetings, to review student progress, discuss concerns, and develop intervention plans.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of student progress, including progress monitoring data, IEP goals, and student work samples.
- Stay current on best practices in special education and participate in professional development activities to enhance your knowledge and skills.
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related field from an accredited institution.
Certifications:
- Valid Wisconsin teaching license with Special Education certification or eligibility for certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with students with disabilities in a school setting, preferably in a special education classroom.
- Knowledge of special education laws and regulations, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Wisconsin special education rules.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to differentiate instruction and provide individualized support to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities.
