Job Description
We are currently seeking a qualified Special Education Teacher to work with students with intellectual disabilities in our middle school. The ideal candidate will have experience designing and implementing individualized instruction to meet the unique needs of each student. This position offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with a team of dedicated professionals and support students in reaching their academic and personal goals. 

Responsibilities
As a special education teacher in our district, responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with intellectual disabilities, including goals, objectives, and accommodations. 
  • Provide direct instruction in core academic subjects, life skills, and social-emotional development. 
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students and promote engagement in the learning process. 
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure that students receive appropriate support and accommodations. 
  • Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies and assistive technology to enhance student learning and participation. 
  • Monitor student progress, collect data, and adjust instruction as needed to address individual student needs. 
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, acceptance, and self-advocacy. 

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education or Master’s/Doctoral degree in Special Education/ Teaching Students with Special Needs
  • Must hold a valid Arizona teaching certification in Special Education
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team. 
  • Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
