Soliant Health is seeking a dedicated and qualified ASL Interpreter to join our team for the upcoming school year. This is a full-time, onsite position, located in a reputable school district near Olympia, Washington.

As an ASL Interpreter, you will play a crucial role in facilitating effective communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and their peers, teachers, and other school staff. Your expertise in American Sign Language and your ability to accurately interpret spoken language into sign language will empower students to participate fully in their educational experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide on-site ASL interpretation services to students in classrooms, school activities, and related events
  • Facilitate effective communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and hearing individuals, including teachers, administrators, and fellow students
  • Interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa, maintaining accuracy and clarity of the intended message
  • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure the inclusion and accessibility of students with hearing impairments
  • Adapt interpreting techniques and strategies to meet the unique needs of individual students
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times

Requirements:

  • Proficient fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Possession of appropriate certification as an ASL Interpreter (e.g., RID certification, NIC certification)
  • Experience working as an ASL Interpreter in an educational setting is preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of deaf culture and the challenges faced by individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing environments and situations
  • Punctuality, reliability, and a strong work ethic
