We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Social Worker near Gurnee, IL to join our team. The School Social Worker will provide comprehensive social work services to students, families, and staff to support their social, emotional, and behavioral well-being. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working with children and adolescents, as well as a deep understanding of social work principles and practices.  For 23-24 school year. Interview & offer same day.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group counseling to students facing social, emotional, and behavioral challenges.
  • Conduct assessments and develop appropriate intervention plans to address students' needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to develop strategies for supporting students' academic and personal success.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings to discuss student progress and develop intervention plans.
  • Coordinate and facilitate referrals to external agencies and community resources for additional support.
  • Promote positive school climate and implement proactive strategies to prevent and address bullying, violence, and other behavioral concerns.
  • Advocate for students' rights and provide crisis intervention when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student records, including progress notes and case documentation.
  • Stay updated on current research and best practices in school social work.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Social Work or related field from an accredited university. 
  • Current state licensure or certification as a School Social Worker.
  • Previous experience working in an educational setting preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of child development, mental health, and social work theories and practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including students, families, and school staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Proficiency in using technology and software applications relevant to the role.
