Using keywords to narrow your search, including locations, certifications, and job titles can help. Also, many job search sites include suggestions of similar positions that you may be interested in. Just like a suggestion on a shopping site, these are typically based on the same qualifications and requirements listed within a posting that you’ve clicked on to learn more.

Ask the contacts within your personal network if they know of openings at offices or hospitals that you are interested in working within. These connections may sometimes have sway over hiring decisions or they may only have information on a possible job lead. Unless you are truly in a desperate situation, it is never a wise idea to apply for positions that you aren’t really interested in. After you have applied for your dream job (or jobs) take the time to send a follow-up letter after an application or a thank you note for an interview. While it may not help you gain answers any faster, it will be certain to leave a positive impression on those who are making the important decisions of who to hire.
